The Tassel Club holds regular Burlesque and Cabaret evenings with a variety of exquisite acts. The Tassel Club is held in the rather appropriate setting of the Bathhouse in Bishopsgate. A setting fit for kings and queens of ostentatious proportions. The ceilings are draped in red velvet with gold trims and the walls mostly hold their original Bathhouse tiles with rather phallic designs. The odd wall, displays contemporary wallpaper featuring skeletons and bones.
The toilets are decorated accordingly, with images of scantily clad women taken in the early 20th century. Men came back rather delighted of their time in the gents toilets only to find that the entertainment would be even more titillating.
The Maitre-D seats guests at beautifully lain tables positioned around a majestic grand piano. Drinks and food are served throughout the show at candle lit tables. Very romantic. What an evening and the show has yet to begin!
This particular show kicked off with Joanne Jolie, a curvaceous bombshell with a voice to suit. She pelted some classic hits including ‘I want to make love to you’ and ‘Hey big spender’. Her act was entertaining as she tickled mens chins and flirted with dinners. This opening act left guests awestruck and the following act was sure to keep jaws-dropped.
Betsy Bon Bon performed a glorious Arabian-nights inspired burlesque dance, draped in sheer burgundy silk with diamond and gold accessories, soon the attire was sexily strewn to the ground to wolf whistles, claps and ghasts. Betsy Bon Bon performed in and among the tables and was stunning dressed and undressed.
What could possibly follow such a glorious act? For the women, Doug, a superstar gymnast showed off some acrobatic moves on pedestals and upon the grand piano. He stripped off his James Bond attire to reveal a well sculpted torso and had the female dinners swooning and feeling rather giddy at the knees.
After a much needed interval, dinners were once more entertained by Joanne Jolie with a very charismatic rendition of ‘keeping secrets from mama’. Betsy Bon Bon reappeared performing a traditional and very alluring fan dance. Her peach fans kept closely to her figure, daintily moving as she danced, giving guests small glimpses of what may, or may not, lay beneath the fans. The climax of the dance is best left to your imagination.
Jessica Blue was quickly ushered on stage to ease guests heart rate with her rather quirky performance. Aided by puppeteer Mr. Love Joy, Jessica tampered with fellow dinners ties, putting on a rather flirtatious and saucy act. She finished her performance by ripping off her puppeteers tie, shirt, trousers and just before he ran off stage his boxers. Jessica and Mr Love Joy left the audience in fits of giggles. And after another well timed interval, the last few acts were propelled on stage.
The beautiful Sophia was the final act, dressed in a sumptuous ball gown, this was soon dropped to the floor revealing a matching corset. Sophia’s striptease continued across the venue as she stirred inbetween diners. Her grand finale included her shaking a bottle of bubbly for it to the expload glitter all over herself. By this point she had a lovely matching glitter ensemble of tiny proportions.
The evening was a spectacular night out to share with friends, colleagues and between lovers. The acts were well rehearsed and very original and the variety of acts kept the evening fresh and refined.
The Tassel Club offers two and three course menu options with entry to the show or just entry to the show with a separate menu. The food was very good and worth every penny. The hostesses kept dinners showered in drinks and the performers teased diners the entire evening through, everyone left with smiles on their faces. Additional raffles meant that two diners left with Burlesque lessons for their month ahead. What a treat!
